From TamsinP - Last of the SYW Russians (106 points)

I think KenR and IanW will have been waiting for this post with a sense of trepidation - my final 15mm SYW entry of this Challenge. Now they will know how many points they need to paint in the final three weeks to catch up and overtake me in our side duel!

I did use the right flock this time!

Yes, this post is the end of my 15mm SYW Russians for now. To be honest, I'm glad to have them out of the way and ready to take the field in one of our club's big bank holiday games.

Let's start with the infantry.

Bjeloserskiy Regiment:

Kegsgolmskiy Regiment:

To assuage my megalomania, there are another thirteen infantry regiments that fought in the SYW to paint. And the Corps of Observation for earlier battles, so this is not the end of my collection.

I might have gone a bit too far with highlighting their cloaks, but they still look OK.

I had two spare cuirassier troopers, so decided to add them to bases as "lifeguards" for a couple of the generals - maybe some princelings who are favourites of the Empress.

All the figures here are from Essex Miniatures.

Now, scoring, let's see:

36 foot @ 2 points = 72
2 hand-painted flags @ 1 point = 2
8 mounted @ 4 points = 32
Total = 106

This might be my last post of the Challenge. My father passed away on Friday and I may be otherwise occupied over the next few weeks and not be able to complete anything. Certainly nothing major, but possibly some small groups of 28mm figures just to distract myself.

MilesR: Very sorry to hear about your Father's passing.  I know I speak for all of your fellow Challengers when I express my deep condolences in this difficult time.  Your mini's are superb, as usual, but that's not really the important thing now.

  1. Sorry to hear of your father's passing Tamsin - our condolences, and I know others will join in expressing them as well.

I do have to share that reading the phrase "To assuage my megalomania..." in your post made me laugh - I need to work that into a posting of my own somehow...

All the best - another great Challenge, well done.

  2. Sorry to hear of your loss. These Russians have shone like a beacon throughout the challenge and I suspect you are going to need a very big table to show them all

  3. Very sorry to hear of your loss. These guys are great and I look forward to sending you that command stand (should you win out in the end).

You and your family have my prays during this difficult time.

  4. My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. Seeing all that has happened, what a hell of an entry this is Tamsin, great work, I really like the blue cloaked generals!

  5. Condolences Tamsin .. hope things are ok with you and yours in dealing with it.

Sweet entry as we have come to expect

  6. All the wonderful figures aside, please accept both my and Sarah's deepest condolences upon the loss of your father. We hope the next few weeks for you go as well as possibly can be expected and we look forward to your return.

  7. Sorry to hear of your loss, hope the little groups of figures help as you suggest.

And I am again very impressed with the detail you get on these little chaps!

  8. I've enjoyed watching the progress of your army. I'm also very sorry for your loss.

  9. Sorry to hear the sad news Tamsin, stay strong

@ Adam - cheers! There are still two weeks for Ian and/or Ken to overtake me and claim that command stand, so put that green paint down! :)
