The Third Theme Round: 'Victorian' is Now Up!

The third theme round, ‘Victorian’, is now upfor your viewing pleasure. For his fortnight’s theme we have 33 entries ranging from Victorian Steampunk to steely-eyed, cleft-chinned heroes of the Empire.

For myself, I’ve submitted on of my favourite Victorian antiheroes: The Artful Dodger.

With that and before you leave to look at the theme gallery,  I’ll leave you with an irrepressible song from the film 'Oliver!' that can’t help but leave you smiling, tapping your foot and feeling for your wallet.

    1. Cheers Juan, 'Dodger' was great fun to work on and a wonderful excuse to see the movie again. :)

  2. Excellent choice for this theme and for your antihero Curt. You did a lovely job of painting him and the stripes on his pants are spot on.

    1. They're trousers! :) Thanks Anne, I kept off the cappuccino for a few hours so I could paint a fine line without shaking...

  5. Sweet looking model, Curt! The blue coat is very rich in tone, he is very jaunty in that hat too!

    1. Thanks David. The blue took a bit of trial and error (like four separate test trys) but it finally seemed to have come off relatively close to the original Technicolor one.

  7. Fantastic work on the figure! The blue of his coat works great with the more subdued colours of his trouser and shirt. Very well done on the stripes too.

  8. Aw crap! At the school where I work we've done a Dutch version of Oliver the Musical; I had just got rid off the songs... Anyway great paintwork specially like the richness of the colours you've used.
Also you might want to read Terry Pratchett's "Dodger" if he's your favourite character. He's also done a hilarious city guide for London: "Dodger's Guide to London" including all kinds of quotes from real-life papers and Dickens's published inquiries after the London underbelly worth while the read and a source for scenario's if I ever saw one.
